Position Summary

This is a temporary, full-time position. The intern/co-op supports the Supplier Development Engineering department in the process development of class II medical devices, primarily in the area of product and component packaging including shipping packaging design, configurations, and testing.

Responsibilities

Co-op duties and responsibilities may include:

  • Assists team to develop component shipping package size and configurations, to meet receiving plant requirements, environmental requirements, optimum cost, and be free of damage
  • Assists team to plan, develop, and execute shipping validation tests
  • Assists team in identifying and/or creating new processes and/or design improvements 
  • Learns related departmental processes and procedures
  • Creates, support, and maintain documentation
  • Performs data entry and analysis in support of team projects and assist in problem solving activities 
  • Carries out risk assessments to understand potential risks associated with shipping and handling of components and finished product
  • Carries out root cause analyses to understand how damage occurred and develop proposals to mitigate such damage
  • Uses tools, techniques, databases and/or systems related to areas of assignment
  • Performs other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • Pursuing BS/BA or related degree in field of assignment
  • GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Familiarity with FDA guidelines on design and manufacturing of the medical devices is a plus

 

Skills/Competencies:

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with CAD software a plus
  • Strong computer skills desired
  • Demonstrates acceptance of responsibility; shows pride in work performed
  • Demonstrates flexibility in acceptance of assignments and schedules
  • Maintains professional behavior and appearance
