Position Summary

The CRM Development Manager is a critical member of the Commercial IT Team and reports to the Director of Commercial Systems. Working in a dynamic, collaborative team environment, the successful candidate will be responsible for all CRM (SFDC) development, release and environment management.  This includes all development efforts for production support, new initiatives and running a robust environment management strategy.  The CRM Development Manager will lead a team of at least 3-5 in-house developers and launch an off-shore support model as well.  Specific functions of this role include oversight of development standards, planning developer sprints and deliverables, career growth for development team, all release management and implementation of a robust environment model.  The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to lead a development staff including on-shore and off-shore resources, deep technical knowledge of Salesforce.com and has been involved in enforcing organized development standards.  This is not necessarily a hands-on developer role, however if time permits the manager may also be asked to assist with complex development efforts.   The CRM Development Manager will partner with our CRM architect and solution designers to assist in creation of new features within SFDC to meet business needs and align with the platform architecture. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage team of internal developers and off-shore development partner
  • Work with developers to properly scope and estimate work for projects or production support
  • Assists internal project manager(s) by identifying required tasks, timelines, dependencies, critical path, resource needs and risks
  • Responsible for managing JIRA projects (story writing in detail), developer capacity, roadblocks and resource constraints
  • Ensure proper level of documentation is in place and verify deliverables with signed off business requirements before releasing to production
  • Responsible for documenting release process, performing releases between TEST, PreProd and Production instances and executing pre/post deployment verification
  • Documenting formal release notes and communicate with business leads about upcoming release plans
  • Manage periodic SFDC releases (3x a year) to ensure new features will not impact our existing functionality
  • Ensuring good code coverage is implemented before moving code between environments
  • Assist with ongoing development of Center of Excellence (COE) standards for code, source control, development standards, etc. for global SFDC org

Education and Experience

  • At least 5 years of experience working in a Salesforce.com technical lead or development manager position
  • At least 3 years of experience working on projects related to Commercial/Sales process improvement is ideal
  • Applicant is actively working with SFDC in current position or has done so in a recent position.
  • At least 1 developer certification from SFDC.
  • Strong knowledge of Salesforce.com concepts including standard objects structure, environment management, workflows, reporting, general design concepts and overall approach of Salesforce.com as a CRM platform
  • BS in an IT-related discipline such as Computer Science or equivalent experience. MBA a plus
  • Proven ability to lead teams of developers, provide best practice coding standards and manage a complex CRM environment.
  • Experience supporting or working with a Commercial organization, preferably in the pharmaceutical, medical device, or any other regulatory controlled industry

  • Experience in the healthcare, pharma or medical device industry a plus
