Position Summary

The Director, Supply Chain Planning is responsible for global finished good and component planning. S/he leads the S&OP process to assure that customer demand is well-understood, supply plans are efficient, launches are flawlessly executed, and end of life transitions are smooth, in order to deliver 100% order fulfillment.  S/he has the experience and vision to implement business and technology systems necessary to support growing from one-product, one factory, to multi-SKU, multi-node manufacturing. 


The Director, Supply Chain Planning is also responsible for oversight of inventory and supply network strategy decisions to minimize cash investments while protecting supply. Finally, the Director Supply Chain Planning oversees manufacturing capacity planning and manages the overall Materials Requirement Planning system.


  • Lead, facilitate, and advocate the S&OP process
  • Define, publish and monitor global production plans for a portfolio of products, taking into account demand from all sources and balancing inventories / manufacturing capacities
  • Develop and deploy efficient planning tools to support Insulet’s growth
  • Build and maintain finished good inventory levels to achieve business objectives
  • Develop and manage component inventory strategies to achieve business objectives
  • Drive continuous improvement of material flow processes in support of manufacturing goals, particularly minimizing lead time and minimizing freight costs
  • Develop tools to manage and analyze supply chain capacity, including components, services, and assembly
  • Develop consistent, effective reporting/score-carding to highlight issues and drive action
  • Leads team of component and master planners
  • Performs other duties as required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Management, Business, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain operations, including planning


  • 5+ years of experience leading growing and dynamic teams



  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Outstanding communicator with a knack for presenting data and metrics in ways that are easily understood and readily actionable by all levels of an organization
  • Strong familiarity with ERP systems and planning modules
  • Ability to effectively influence third parties and cross-functional teams to drive improvement in a manufacturing environment
  • Detail-oriented, extremely organized, and thrives on managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Lean or Six Sigma preferred
