Position Summary

The Director, Inside Sales leads and motivates a team of sales supervisors and representatives to meet sales targets through the effective pull through of end users (patients) for the OmniPod Insulin Delivery System. This is a hands-on sales role that will be responsible for providing strong leadership, achieving sales targets, and managing sales rep productivity with a growing inside sales team.  Sales goals are achieved by hiring, training, and coaching employees to develop their selling skills and to effectively manage their sales business and pipeline.


This individual will work closely with the field management team to pull thorough sales qualified leads driven by outside sales. This role is also responsible for managing external sales agencies and third party distributors.  The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success driving sales results through strong management skills, demonstrated experience managing all aspects of an inside/outside sales team, and a solid understanding and grasp of business analytics and the budgeting process.


  • Responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for an Inside Sales team which is located at multiple sites (including remote) to ensure achievement of sales goals.
  • Oversee a team responsible for the seamless pass of patient referrals to third party distributors with close scrutiny until the end result of sales and a positive customer experience is achieved. 
  • Ensure all referrals in the pipeline move through the sales cycle quickly, resulting in high sales conversion and long term customer loyalty.
  • Analyze root cause of performance goals that fall short of target and rapidly deploy appropriate countermeasures to ensure achievement of business plans.
  • Implement the necessary training, coaching and developmental opportunities that enable team members to prepare for a future career in field sales, leadership or other internal opportunities.
  • Model and direct frequent, consistent and effective communication across all levels of the field sales organization that ensures execution excellence and trusting relationships.
  • Constant vigilance in developing the proper documentation, policies, procedures and quality controls necessary to ensure the business needs are met and protected.
  • Bring innovative solutions and work with Business Analysts to develop systems and reports which will improve sales results and drive efficiencies for long term department scalability.
  • Work with sales, marketing, and market access leadership to develop strategies and tactics that maximize sales quota attainment.
  • Oversee all supervisory administrative activities including hiring, scheduling, coaching, quality monitoring, policy adherence, and performance management to ensure team efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • BS/BA degree; MBA a plus and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 10+ years inside sales/telesales experience with a minimum of 5+ year’s leadership experience, including managing front line supervisors.
  • Experience working in or with field sales to achieve sales goals is strongly desired.
  • Experience implementing process improvement, quality control and scalability solutions.
  • Call center/customer supervisory experience in the medical industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement or diabetes a plus.
  • Able to ascertain opportunity and risk in the pipeline.


  • Strong leadership and goal-setting ability. Ability to mentor and coach individuals and teams to achieve optimal performance.
  • Ability to drive the sales results in a demanding, fast-paced environment with high level of energy, motivation and flexibility. Demonstrated track record of sales success and achievement.
  • Strong verbal and writing communications. Exceptional accountability and initiative; ability to independently problem solve and effectively address obstacles and challenges; Ability to challenge and collaborate all levels of the organization within and outside of direct team. 
  • Attention to detail; time management and effective multi-tasking skills are essential.
  • Exceptional computer and phone skills. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and or other CRM system.
