This role will start in our Billerica MA office and move to Acton when the plant opens.

We are seeking a highly-motivated individual with machine operating experience to play an active role an Operator Technician operating highly automated machinery necessary for the production of pod assembly. The Operator Technician will be a critical contributor in a mission that truly represents an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a company that is making significant investments in establishing US manufacturing, expanding internationally, and delivering a consistent cadence of product innovations to the market and investing in its people. This individual will be trained and cross-trained to operate various stations including: lasers, optical gaging devices, continuity testing, inspection, etc. Responsibilities will include machine operation and set-up, troubleshooting, and product quality. Requires mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and problem solving skills, ability to read and understand blue-prints, written and verbal instructions and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Setting up and operating a variety of production machines for self and others; operating and maintaining adjustments on machines working under limited supervision.
  • Perform equipment setup, operation, adjustments and preventative maintenance tasks to meet all standards for safety, quality and efficiency. 
  • Maintains feeder blows at capacity, perform any fault clearing and clear stoppages on automated equipment. Ensure adequate material is prepared for shift and jobs are run in a timely manner to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Load and unload materials at stations, perform work at HMIs, standing and walking for the majority of the shift.
  • Perform routine cleaning/inspection/lubrication of machines
  • Executes equipment inspections and generates maintenance work orders. Troubleshoot and identify potential decision or solutions for mechanical errors, safety issues or general operating inefficiencies with assembly production processes.
  • Able to utilize computer systems to support in the material inventory management processes.
  • Participates in manufacturing processes to support new product design transfer, process development, equipment validations, process validations, and investigations and resolution of product/process issues.
  • Performing maintenance and calibration of manufacturing measuring and monitoring devices as well as maintaining the integrity of work areas. 
  • Able to use measuring tools to ensure correct tolerances.
  • Works from specifications, work orders, and general instructions from Production Supervisor/Team Lead.
  • Safely follow standard operating procedures including but not limited to material handling, record keeping, packaging, and shipment preparation.
  • Notifies Team Leader or Production Supervisor of any discrepancies to ensure quality standards are maintained at all times.
  • Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and capable of working independently with minimal instruction from production supervisor.
  • Able to work in small groups and cross functional teams to troubleshoot issues, identify and implement corrective actions.

Education and Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duties satisfactorily. In addition to the above, requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.



  • Mechanical Aptitude – Knowledge of and experience with automated machines and tools, including design, users, repair, and maintenance.
  • Production & Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, instruments, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Mathematics – Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra and/or geometry.
  • Problem Solving – Recognizes problems and performs root cause analysis.
  • Detail Oriented – Strong attention to detail.


Required Qualifications:

  • High school Diploma or 1-2 years of combined education and on-the-job manufacturing experience.
  • Experience working with highly automated equipment, discreet assembly, and robotics.
  • Knowledge and experience with assembling, debugging and optimizing discrete component assembly processes such as laser welding, heat staking, and ultrasonic welding.
  • Must be proficient in English language to be able to read documentation, communicate, and write.
  • Ideal candidate will have keen eye for quality, is dependable, and will work collaboratively within a team, and possess a positive attitude.


Other Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing experience in Medical Device Industry.
  • Previous experience with Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs).
  • Previous experience working in a clean room environment.
  • Self-starter capable of dealing with a variety of tasks in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Familiarity with machining equipment and processes such as milling machines, lathes and grinders.
  • Experience in a start-up production environment is a plus.


International travel may be required up to 50% of time during the first 3-6 months of factory acceptance testing of equipment at vendor’s location.


Physical Requirements:

  • Required to stand for at least 75% of working time per shift, with walking at least 50% of working time per shift.
  • Required to reach above shoulder frequently and below waist occasionally.
  • Required to push and pull.
  • Ability to lift up to 20lbs occasionally, 5-20lbs frequently.
