Position Summary

The  Sales and Operations Planning Manager is responsible for global finished goods production planning in a multi-manufacturing site environment.  The S&OP Manager leads the cross functional S&OP process to define an integrated business plan. The primary purpose of the role is to establish production rates to support the integrated plan and Insulet required service levels.  The position drives the rough cut capacity model and participates in capacity planning of the manufacturing sites and component suppliers. The S&OP Manager has overall responsibility for the Materials Requirement Planning function to assure supply of all SKUs meets Insulet plans.


  • Lead the Insulet S&OP process including rough cut capacity planning, multi-plant production scheduling, and material planning to meet required service levels.
  • Develops and measures multi-plant production plans to meet customer demand.
  • Manage production to achieve inventory goals on both a cost and unit basis.
  • Drives continuous improvement of material flow processes in support of manufacturing goals, particularly lead time and freight costs.
  • Responsible for managing internal and external manufacturing process steps.
  • Performs audits, develops production, sterilization, days on hand, and shipping forecasts. Forecasts and measures inventory levels, and addresses material shortages with stakeholders.
  • Manages and maintains Master Planning functionality and MRP Master data in the ERP system.
  • Develop consistent, effective reporting to manager performance and highlight issues.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Materials Management or Business; 10 plus years of leadership in senior planning roles.
  • MBA or equivalent.



  • Strong analytical, statistical and critical thinking skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MRP systems. Microsoft Dynamics AX is preferred.
  • Experience in a multi-plant environment is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Ability to effectively influence third parties and cross-functional teams to drive improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to speak and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
