The Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of plant distribution activities including receiving, shipping, and tracking of raw materials and finished goods. The Shipping Supervisor will ensure that shipment transactions are promptly entered into the ERP System in accordance with applicable standard operating procedures and will ensure plant personnel follow all applicable FDA and cGMP procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs receiving and shipping department activities and establishes priorities in keeping with quality and cost factors.
  • Maintain storage areas by organizing floor space and implement improvements based on storage design principles.
  • Communicate with freight carriers regarding daily bills of lading.
  • Perform general duties including FedEx processing, inventory cycle counts, variance reconciliation, and inventory stocking.
  • Check all orders to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare shipping documents if necessary.
  • Allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs.
  • Ensures that all team members are adequately trained and activities are performed as specified in documented work instructions.
  • Ensures warehouse team members are informed, enabled, motivated, and held accountable.
  • Formally evaluates performance of team members and champions the professional development of the team.
  • Responsible for employee safety within the warehouse.
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a functioning, clean, and orderly condition.
  • Use Lean principles and tools to drive a continuous improvement culture to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma required/GED or equivalent work experience; minimum 5 years’ experience in distribution and or receiving environment; minimum 2 years supervision experience required; 5 + years of experience transportation / distribution experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Skills/Competencies:

  • Must have excellent leadership skills including team motivation, communication, and supervisory knowledge.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of warehouse equipment including fork trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Excellent inventory management and purchasing skills.
  • Proficient in business environment software applications - MS Office, Microsoft AX.
  • Must be extremely service, internal customer, and detail-oriented.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • The ideal candidate is highly motivated, is a proactive problem solver, self-starter that can work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs.
