    Oversees all aspects of inventory planning and procurement for materials and services required for production in the plant. Develops and maintains the relevant control activities in an ISO certified and FDA regulated medical device distribution environment. The position is also responsible for materials handling, customer service delivery, stocking decisions, forecasting, and some aspects of production planning.  Manages relationships with 3rd party vendors and suppliers, Corporate Logistics and Procurement, and Distribution.


    Major Responsibilities of the Position:

    • Responsible for the design, setup and operation of the Supply Chain department for Insulet’s first US manufacturing facility.
    • Responsible for all operations regarding inventory planning, procurement, import, warehousing, inbound & outbound transportation, export as well as reverse logistics (return & recall management), destructions management.
    • Directs planning and execution of the procurement requirements the plant for raw materials, supplies and services.
    • Develop the processes and procedures necessary to establish effective working relationships with all suppliers, particularly material suppliers, in order to manage vendor quality and performance.
    • Oversees management of suppliers and vendors for manufacturing goods and services including complaint handling, relationship building and negotiating in coordination with Corporate Planning, Logistics and Procurement.
    • Collaborates and participates in the production planning and scheduling.
    • Key User for Material Management and related modules for inventory management and movement, as well as material master data maintenance and procurement.
    • Main point of contact for all relevant Supply Chain related projects/topics in the plant to all Corporate Teams.


    Other Duties:

    • Drives continual improvement of work flows and systems.
    • Establish and maintain effective performance metrics.
    • Develop, document, and implement processes and workflows to support new manufacturing processes.
    • Maintain manufacturing material levels to ensure high service levels within financial targets.
    • Backup person to other logistics/purchasing functions as required.
    • Assist Corporate Procurement in evaluating and establishing new alternative suppliers.

    Education and Experience

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Production, Industrial or Logistics Engineering, or strong Supply Chain/Logistics job experience.
    • Minimum 5 years leadership experience in an international Logistics/Supply Chain environment, preferably in an international medical device or pharmaceutical environment.
    • Strong track record in project management, leadership, and execution.


    Required Knowledge and Skills:

    • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a fast-paced FDA/ISO regulated environment
    • Highly motivated, straight-forward thinking and performance-driven professional with “can-do” attitude and an understanding of “the big picture”. Consistently delivers on commitments, setting clear and high expectations and holding self & others accountable for decisions and results achieved.
    • Excellent communication skills.


    Work Environment and Physical Demands:
    General office and manufacturing environment.  May be exposed to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools.  May be required to lift 50 pounds without restriction.
