  • Position Summary

    This is a Test Engineer to specify, design, procure and validate a Battery Charging/Discharging system for Replacement Mobile Phone batteries.   This is a Manufacturing system that is needed to support batteries for DASH PDM batteries within the 14 Progress Rd PDM MFG facility.


    • Specify the Requirements for a Battery Discharge fixture that can be used to Discharge up to 100 LI-ION Mobile Phone Batteries per week
      • User Requirements Specification (URS)
      • Functional Requirements Specification (FRS)
      • Functional Design Specification (FDS)
    • Locate Supplier or Mfg of Charging/Dis/charging/Test Systems that can meet the system Requirements.
    • Procure a System that can Charge/Discharge LI-ION Mobil Phone batteries.
    • Write Operating Procedure for Use of the Charging/Discharging system
    • Install system at 14 Progress MFG Facility
    • Validate Charging/Discharging System:
      • Write Tool Files for System
      • Create Process Flow Chart for System
      • Create Process FMEA for system
      • Write Validation Protocol and have approved by Insulet
      • Execute Validation Protocol and Record results.
      • Write Validation Report and have approved by Insulet.

    Education and Experience

    • Electrical Engineer (BSEE or MSEE)
    • Experience with Mobile Device Li-Ion Battery Charging and Discharging fixtures
    • Experience with Medical Device Industry and FDA Regulatory Paperwork.
    • Experience Writing User Requirements Specifications (URS)
    • Functional Requirements Specification (FRS)
    • Functional Design Specification (FDS)
    • Experience Validating Medical Device MFG


    Desired Skills:

    • Requirements Writing (Medical Device MFG Systems)
    • Electrical Test System Design and Validation.
    • Mobile Phone Battery – Lithium Ion Technology – Charging and Discharging System design.
    • Validation Protocol Writing (Medical Device MFG Systems)
    • Validation Protocol Writing (Medical Device MFG Systems)


    Physical Requirements (if applicable):

    • Working at a desk on a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
    • Attending meetings in conference rooms.
    • Test system Validation may require standing for several hours to execute validation tests.
    • Expected to be able to travel domestically and internationally (Europe & Asia). Length of travel will depend on the project and its phase.  Anticipated travel is estimated at less than 20%.  Travel Expenses will be reimbursed by Insulet.
    • Performs other duties as required.
