    The maintenance planner is responsible for asset management, work planning, and managing spare part inventory using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).  Additional responsibilities include work process improvement, weekly reporting of planned/unplanned work and inventory usage, and CMMS system administration.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing to life the systems needed to maintain the facility, assembly, and process equipment for the startup of new Manufacturing Operations in Acton, MA.  The role will then transition to work planning and process improvement for facilities and assembly equipment in Acton, MA with accountability to ensure a high level of machine uptime and reliability on complex discrete component assembly equipment.  


    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Member of the Maximo (CMMS) implementation team
    • Loading of initial spares into inventory including organizing spare parts storage and set up in Maximo
    • Loading of initial work plans including work instructions and schedules
    • Plan all maintenance work orders by analyzing basic job steps, determining their relative sequence, and kitting parts, materials, special tools, and safety supplies required for each step.
    • Maintain an appropriate backlog of planned work ready for scheduling based on priorities established by Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering. (Do while down)
    • Prepare daily work schedules to maximize efficiency of corrective, preventive, and improvement maintenance.
    • Review all completed work orders for accuracy and opportunities for improvement.
    • Ensure key performance indicators are captured and reported for equipment reliability and maintenance department performance.
    • Train maintenance/operations personnel in proper use of CMMS to ensure highest quality work orders are produced and maintained for future reference.
    • Monitors spare parts inventory for facilities and automation equipment including purchase order tracking, expediting orders, and audits.
    • Interface directly with manufacturing representatives to help drive preventative maintenance schedules, techniques and training.
    • Ability to partner with cross functional team(s), manufacturing and the broader technical community during startup to define and document maintenance plans
    • Champion process improvement in assigned areas by analyzing equipment maintenance history, identifying significant causes of waste, coordinating with appropriate employees to develop root-cause solutions, and providing maintenance assistance as necessary.
    • Provide Preventative Maintenance support for plant and equipment.
    • Responsible to report safety, quality, and regulatory compliance concerns to leadership.
    • This is a hands-on role, requiring the candidate to take on project work assigned as an individual contributor, or as a participant on cross functional teams, as well as be able to utilize tools to inspect, repair and maintain equipment.
    • Ability to train others including production operators and technicians.


    • Requires mechanical aptitude, technical ability, and problem solving skills, ability to read and understand blue-prints, written and verbal instructions and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent attention to detail, good organization, and capable of working independently to a production schedule.

    Education and Experience

    Required Qualifications:

    • Associate degree in maintenance related field preferred.
    • 3-5 years of experience in a maintenance role on highly automated assembly equipment.
    • At least 2 years of experience as a maintenance planner using CMMS.
    • Experience with Maximo preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, and strong presentation skills.
    • Follows all policies, procedures, ergonomic standards and safety requirements directed by the department.

     Other Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with HMI’s / GUI’s (Machine user interfaces) and working in a clean room environment a plus
    • Knowledge and experience with post-implementation continuous improvement efforts and methodology is greatly beneficial.  
    • Experience in a start-up production environment is a plus.

     Physical Requirements:

    • Required to stand for at least 75% of working time per shift, with walking at least 50% of working time per shift.

    • Required to reach above shoulder frequently and below waist occasionally.

    • Required to push and pull.

    • Ability to lift up to 20lbs occasionally, 5-20lbs frequently.

    International travel to Canada may be required during the first 3-6 months of factory acceptance testing of equipment at vendor’s location.  Travel not expected to exceed 20%.
