  • Position Summary

    The Interim Senior Manager, Accounting and Finance will oversee the European accounting and financial operations and will report to the Senior Manager Accounting, Europe, in a high-growth medical device company, with the mission of improving the lives of people with diabetes. The role is more a hands-on manager level to lead and improve the European accounting / financial procedures, processes and systems to meet operational initiatives, along with local compliance requirements such as statutory audit and VAT reporting

     

    The Interim Senior Manager, Accounting and Finance should provide a thorough understanding of ERP systems and the skillset necessary to analyze and direct accounting business processes and integration throughout Europe.  In addition, the Interim Senior Manager, Accounting and Finance must partner cross-functionally on new commercial business initiatives (such as entry into new markets) and drive process improvements with a proactive, practical and solution-oriented approach.  The development of coordination of internal accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls, is also a requirement of the role, along with partnering with the Company’s FP&A group for the review of monthly European reporting results versus budgeted expectations. Finally, this position will also focus on the oversight of third party relationships associated with outsourced accounting, treasury, and billing/collections functions.  

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the financial close and all aspects of external financial reporting, including statutory reporting for 6 legal entities within Europe.
    • Oversight of 3rd party service providers for accounting, treasury, and billing/collections.
    • Within the context of global policies and standards, develop and maintain the company’s European financial controls framework and accounting policies, ensuring continual improvements and identifying any risks and putting in place corrective strategies to reduce or remove risks within the framework.
    • Oversee the European companies’ general ledger accounting and external reporting, billing/collections, customer credit, payroll, and day-to-day tax (VAT) and treasury functions.
    • Lead and develop the local audit processes, manages the external relationships with our auditors and seeks to implement streamlined processes to ensure audit efficiencies and compliance with all applicable standards. Planning, organizing and coordinating the statutory & group reporting and close processes, liaising with both group audit and our external auditors.
    • Provides, clear direction and line management to the Accounting functions to ensure that they have the right capabilities and behaviors to operate strategically and deliver quality solutions to the business.
    • Support financial needs for new market opportunities in Europe.

    Education and Experience

    • Qualified accountant (CA, CGA, CMA or CPA)
    • Minimum 5-8years of accounting experience required; large multinational public accounting experience (preference but not requirement)
    • Experience working in a publically traded entity with reporting requirements into Corporate, 2+ years leadership/managerial experience
    • Ability to lead complex projects which require influence and implementation across business groups and functions.
    • Ability to travel 10-25% internationally (primarily United States and within European countries)
    • Strong experience working in ERP and systems accounting integration, experience with Microsoft AX as an ERP platform a plus
    • Experience working at a multinational organization in international reporting; experience working as part of a U.S.-based company a plus
    • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
    • Experience working across departments to implement new processes and improve existing processes
    • Deadline driven with highest possible accuracy
    • Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, within multiple levels of organization
    • Medical device and medical billing experience a significant plus
