  • Position Summary

    Performs all aspects of collections operations to ensure timely and accurate filing of government and third party medical claims, ensures maximum reimbursement collection efforts and complies with corporate, JCAHO, and HIPAA regulations and procedures.


    In addition, the collections coordinator performs the maintenance of the billing requirements set forth by Medicare/Medicaid carriers and the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) CMS1500 forms, including Medical Necessity.



    • Identifies, verifies, and records billing information via computerized billing software package.
    • Reviews documentation in medical records in order to verify accuracy of charge information and to assist in preparing responses to requests of third party payors.
    • Prepares memos/forms/correspondence.
    • Address claims correspondence and questions from third parties.
    • Create and maintain Accounts Receivable files.
    • Other duties: Assist with general filing and Accounts Payable.

    Education and Experience

    Education and Experience:

    Minimum Requirements:

    • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
    • 1 year of basic technical training in medical terminology and ICD-9 coding
    • 2-3 years of medical billing experience


    Preferred Skills and Competencies:

    • Knowledge medical billing software a must.
    • Strong data entry skills.
    • Extremely attentive to detail.
    • Good organizational skills.


    Physical Requirements:

    • General Office Environment, may sit for long periods of time.
